I was linked to this article from another blog. An excellent read. It is able to explain why fast food has been so successful and addictive. It also makes me rethink about eating fast food. Sure, it's cheap, quick and readily available, what's not to like. But, if we continue to indulge without care or control of our weight, health problems will come all together at once before you can even sense it. I also realized that I'm quite a fast eater and sometimes do not chew my food too much. This probably explains why my weight can go up when I stop exercising. Perhaps the root cause is my laziness in chewing.

Of Cable TV programmes - Singtel and Starhub

This is quite a piece of good news.

ONE set-top box - that is all you need to watch cable TV programmes from either StarHub or SingTel.
This is a major departure from the current situation, where StarHub cable TV customers cannot watch programmes telecast on rival SingTel's mio TV.
To watch shows from both, you would need an account with both players and pay for two set-up boxes.
But yesterday, the Government mandated that the companies work out a way to allow customers of one to watch shows from the other, without having to install two boxes in their homes or open another account.
Consumers will also pay identical fees for watching a programme, as providers will not be allowed to bill a rival's customers a higher fee.
The change will not happen right away, though.

Jack Neo is becoming Singapore's Tiger Woods with more and more women revealing Jack's scandals.

After news broke of Jack Neo having an affair with a 22 year old model, another former member of his “Liang Jia Ban” entertainment group has stepped forward to accuse him of sexual harrassment!
In an interview with Chinese Daily Lianhe Wanbao, Foyce Le Xuan claimed that Jack Neo started to woo her within one year of joining the group. He would send her sweet SMSes and offered to send her home after work. He even booked a hotel room and asked her to meet him there so that they can share a “quiet” and “private” moment with one another.
She also accused Jack Neo of not giving her opportunities due to her rejection of his advances which prompted her to terminate her 3 year contract earlier.

Jack Neo’s wife has forgiven him for his 2 year- extramarital affair with a 22 year old model, Ms Zhong Jiayan, Lianhe Wanbao reports.

The famous Singapore comedian turned movie director has made the headlines lately after it was spilled to the media that the model had leaked the affair to Jack Neo’s wife, Mdm Kang Meifeng.

According to Ms Zhong, she first knew Jack Neo while filming “Money Not Enough 2″ 2 years ago after which Jack Neo started courting her. They started dating a week later.
Jack Neo admitted that he had thought of ending the relationship, but Ms Zhong always threatened suicide to keep him by her side.

Ms Zhong had gone to Jack Neo’s place at Pasir Ris yesterday to expose their 2-year affair to his wife. To her surprise, Jack invited her into his house and asked his wife to meet her.
Mdm Kang asked her what she wants and told her calmly that she already knew about their affair a year ago. She suggested they have a talk outside so as not to disturb her children.
The three proceeded to talk at a Crowne Plaza restaurant together with Ms Zhong’s father and sister as well as Jack’s pastor and family friend who joined them later.

Ms Zhong revealed that she had gone overseas with Jack on four occasions during their relationship. Jack has since apologized to his wife who had forgiven him.

In this TED video, Blaise Aguera y Arcas demos new augmented-reality mapping technology from Microsoft.

After watching this, I must say that I'm really impressed by this technology. Once the technology reaches maturity, I think it will totally transform the way we view and play with maps. It is fascinating to be able to zoom in from 2D maps to 3D buildings then to real street view. Another mind-blowing feature is when in street view, users are able to see photos tagged with time stamp, hence the possibility of scrolling through photos taken at different times (as if you are travelling through time). Equally brilliant is the video embedded into the actual locations.

‘I closed the curtain as far as possible, and my baby immediately cried, so I sat down to feed her,’ she said. ‘This never takes more than a couple of minutes, there was another changing room available, and there was only one other customer in the shop.’

However, Mrs Baker realised that ‘a man with multiple facial piercings’ – whom she later learned was manager Steve Symonds – was watching her through the side of the curtain. 

The man said loudly: ‘Changing rooms aren’t for breast-feeding.’ 

Despite this, she finished feeding Elsie and was browsing for shoes in the shop when Mr Symonds began spraying air freshener. 

‘My baby started to cry,’ she said. ‘When another customer suggested it was from the strong smell of the spray, the manager said very loudly, “I have to spray because your breast milk stinks”.

‘Shocked and indignant, I complained, including asking why he felt it was appropriate to look into changing rooms.

‘He was insistent that he needed to look because he was the manager, and that I should not feed my baby in his store.’

Mind’s area manager, Lindsay McBryne, who was also in the shop, supported Mr Symonds and said changing rooms were ‘for trying on clothes, not for other purposes’.

So, I played texas hold'em with my friends today. During one of the hands, I was dealt Ace club and 10 club.

The flop revealed J club, Q club and another card which I can't remember. So, at this point of time, I have a Flush draw which means that I'm waiting for another club to form a Flush.

The turn was an 8 club. I've got a Flush. At this point, there are already 3 clubs on the table so there is high chance that someone else also drew a Flush or Flush draw. And it turned out that I was right. Player on my right (let's call him Player A) has a outside straight draw while the player on my left (Player B) has a flush draw. So the pot was growing to a decent amount of money.

Turn:

Now, guess what. The river card was........ a King Club!!!!... I've got ROYAL FLUSH!! At the same time, Player A has got his Straight while Player B has also a Flush!!

Do you know what are the odds of getting a Royal Flush? There are only 4 possible hands in 2,598,960 or 1 in 649,740! Naturally, I went ALL-IN on the River and won Player A and Player B.

Recently, I'm testing out the FXCM platform. The above trade was done on a demo account.

The trading station is quite user friendly and easy to pick up. The indicators are easily configured and I could create entry order just by right-clicking on the chart. It took me awhile to learn how to set up an OCO stop/limit.

I think Forex really polishes my TA strategies. Applying similar strategies to stocks, I am able to better identify entry and exit points.

Ferrara has been sacked by Juventus.  This came after Juventus were knocked out of Italian Cup.  Prior to this, they had already been knocked out of Champions league and are currently in sixth place of Serie A.

This is what I've been waiting for.  A light device that connects to the internet.  It's also perfect for my workplace which forbids camera devices.

It looks extremely light and portable.

It looks like a large version of ipod touch.

Main problem is that the 3G version is about $200 more expensive than the wi-fi version.

 

Should I buy this or should I just get the iPhone??

Of Ful Lin Tou Fu Yuen's Yong Tau Foo

This afternoon, my colleague brought us to a really nice Yong Tau Foo stall near his house.  If you are thinking of a soup based, thick yellow noodles with healthy vegetables, stuffed items and toufu. Wrong. Fu Lin Tou Fu Yuen offers an ampang-style Yong Tau Foo.

Basically, all the stuffed items are fried before serving with a soy-based sauce.  In addition, their noodles are thick and served with also some minced meat soy sauce.  Unfortunately, my workplace doesn't permit any camera phones, hence no pictures to show.  I will definitely take some pictures of this shiok Yong Tau Foo the next time I go there.

On 31st Dec 09, I bought 19 lots of Rafflesedu at 0.40. My intention was to buy more but I'd reached my trading limit at that moment due to some other trades that I made. I did not sell when it reached 0.475. My sense is that it will go up in the near future. Hope I'm making the right judgement.

Anyway, past 2 weeks had been quite boring in terms of trading. Everything seems to be going sideways. I thought the Jan rally would be strong but the current outlook seems to indicate some resistance. I'm still waiting for STI to go above 3000.
